Advocacy Day! Contact Your Elected Officials

What is Adult Education and Family Literacy (AEFL) week?

AEFL week raises public awareness about the need for and value of adult education and family literacy.

scaleLIT's focus will be on the pivotal role of adult education in enabling equitable access to societal resources, employment opportunities, and full participation in community life.

You can follow scaleLIT and National Adult Education and Family Literacy Week through COABE for more information or opportunities to commemorate this advocacy week.

To raise public awareness, join us in utilizing COABE’s Action Center to identify our local, regional, and federal elected officials and raise awareness for the benefits and need for adult education.

Adult Education saves millions in reduced food stamp and Medicaid costs and adds more jobholders and taxpayers—it is virtually the only program in Illinois that consistently produces more savings than investment. Help us communicate the significance of funding and support for adult education today!

COABE also has a webpage to help you message legislators and advocate for $810 million for the Adult State Education Grant Program in FY25. Click here to send your message in three clicks!
